Very Simple Chocolate Pudding Recipe

Chocolate Pudding

Are you craving for chocolate pudding, but you don’t have the instant-box around the house? Just follow this recipe and feel free to experiment or change flavors, milk type or even the toppings.

Don’t buy, make it yourself

What you need:

1 cup sugar4 cups whole milk
1/4 cup cornstarch2 tablespoons butter
1/2 teaspoon salt2 teaspoons vanilla extract
4 cups whole milkOPTIONAL: Topping of your choice whipped cream for example
1/2 cup baking cocoa
Prep time around 10 minutes; Makes 8 servings


Get an appropriate saucepan, combine sugar, cocoa, cornstarch and salt. Gradually add milk. Bring to a boil over medium heat; boil and stir for 2 minutes. Remove from the heat; stir in butter and that’s it.

Some Tips

Puddings and custards can get lumpy. To prevent lumpy pudding, whisk all the dry ingredients together in a saucepan. Then gradually add the milk, a little bit at a time, whisking thoroughly after each addition until the mixture is smooth. As you are bringing the mixture to a boil, continue stirring constantly.
